Dan Caldwell, adviser to U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, was escorted from the Pentagon on Tuesday after being linked to an internal leak investigation, a U.S. official told Reuters.
Caldwell has been placed on administrative leave for an “unauthorized disclosure,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The move had not been previously reported.
Caldwell, a retired U.S. Marine, was identified as the point of contact for the Department of Defense in the ‘SignalGate’ chat leak. On Tuesday night, his account on X was shut down.
