U.S. president Donald Trump has extended entry restrictions to more countries—including Syria and the Palestinian territories—as part of its ongoing immigration and border security strategy.

A White House decree published recently stipulates that citizens of Syria, and Palestinians traveling with documents issued by the Palestinian Authority, are generally barred from entering the United States.

The order also covers nationals from Burkina Faso, Laos, Mali, Niger, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan, while allowing for certain individual exceptions.

The administration justified the bans by citing security concerns, particularly limited U.S. capacity to verify travel documents issued in regions where extremist groups operate. The Palestinian Authority was specifically criticized for inadequate control over individuals traveling with its documents. Washington highlighted the activity of groups it classified as terrorist organizations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, some of which have previously targeted U.S. citizens.

These measures follow a series of previous entry restrictions targeting countries including Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

On November 28th, following an attack in which two members of the National Guard  were shot near the White House, Trump announced further decisive action on migration. In a public statement, he said:

We will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover [and] remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country.

Since the beginning of his second term, Donald Trump has been opposing illegal migration in defense of American interests—just like Viktor Orbán, one of the few European Union leaders who consistently prioritizes Hungary’s national interests and refuses entry to illegal migrants.
