Travel from 19 nations was paused as the U.S. government tightens immigration controls following the deadly attack in Washington.

The Trump administration has instructed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to locate and deport illegal Somali immigrants in Minneapolis and St. Paul, according to U.S. media reports.

Trump’s announcement on December 2nd came following recent scandals in Minnesota, where prosecutors say more than $1 billion in false billing—often involving Somali Americans—went to nonexistent social services.

The government has also halted all green card and citizenship applications for people from 19 countries — including Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, Haiti, Sudan, and Venezuela — expanding its immigration crackdown.

The decision comes after a deadly shooting in Washington, D.C. by an Afghan national, which officials cite as proof of failed vetting. President Trump has vowed to “pause migration from all Third World countries,” while Homeland Security officials push for an even broader travel ban.Picture-
