In an unexpectedly cordial meeting, Donald Trump and freshly elected New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani met in the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st.
Trump, a lifelong New Yorker, stated to reporters following the meeting that he would not want to see federal funds for New York being cut off. “I don’t think that’s going to happen,” the president told reporters.
Mamdani said he appreciated the fact that what the focus of the dicussion was “not on places of disagreement, which there are many, and also focused on the shared purpose that we have in serving New Yorkers.”
