New executive order bars DEI-influenced models from public use, marking a sharp break with EU-style tech regulation.

The ‘Winning the Race’ summit in Washington on July 23rd marked a renewed U.S. push to lead global development in artificial intelligence (AI).

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders to speed up federal approvals for building AI-related data centers and to encourage the global export of U.S.-developed AI models. According to Trump

Winning this competition will be a test of our capacities unlike anything since the dawn of the space age … We need U.S. technology companies to be all-in for America. We want you to put America first.

A third and more controversial order mandates that federally funded contractors must ensure their AI models remain politically neutral and free from “ideological dogmas” like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). U.S. agencies will be required to reject models that “sacrifice truthfulness and accuracy to ideological agendas.” Unlike the European Union’s approach, however, the order states the U.S. government should avoid regulating how AI operates in the private sector.

While Brussels pushes ‘woke’ AI rules, the U.S. announcement comes as Estonia, China’s auto sector, and the BRICS nations ramp up their own AI innovation efforts.
