Border Force staff patrolling the English Channel and other areas have voted to strike over a longstanding dispute regarding extra allowances for certain roles. More than 120 staff signed up to the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) were balloted, with 96% voting in favour and an 80% turnout.
PCS General Secretary Fran Heathcote said the union members are prepared to take “highly disruptive” action to press the employer to address their concerns, including potentially halting patrols.
Any action would take place amid the breakdown of Britain’s borders, with established records for migrant numbers being broken on a regular basis under Keir Starmer’s Labour government.
