Ministers face calls to investigate after a UK-based foundation allegedly distributed aid to families linked to the October 7 attacks, with further questions over Iranian connections.

A charity with links to Iran is facing scrutiny after its Telegram account appeared to promote cash assistance for relatives of those described as “martyrs” of Hamas’s October 7 attack.

GB News reports that the Al-Mueen Foundation, incorporated in 2024, said in Telegram posts that aid had been distributed to wounded people in Gaza and to orphans of those killed in what Hamas calls the “Battle of Al-Aqsa Storm.”

Further questions have been raised over the foundation’s links to institutions connected to Iran.

Its Telegram account also promoted fundraising initiatives tied to a school in Qom affiliated with Al-Mustafa International University, which was sanctioned by the United States over links to the IRGC’s Quds Force.

The foundation is not currently registered with the UK’s Charity Commission, though the regulator is assessing whether it should be, and its non-registration does not itself imply wrongdoing.

Lord Walney has called for an urgent investigation.

Separately, pro-Khamenei groups have reportedly been active at 27 British universities, where Islamic societies have held protests and shared tributes describing Iran’s late Supreme Leader as a “martyr.”
