The UK has officially withdrawn its embassy staff from Tehran, the British Foreign Office confirmed in a statement. The embassy closed on the eighth day of the escalating Israel-Iran war, with little sign that the conflict is easing.

“Due to the current security situation, we have taken the precautionary measure to temporarily withdraw our UK staff from Iran. Our embassy continues to operate remotely,” said the Foreign Ministry.

In Israel, the British embassy in Tel Aviv remains open, but London has advised embassy staff families to leave the country. Relatives began leaving yesterday.
