The teenager is accused of the attempted murder of two boys, aged 12 and 13. He is also charged with possession of a knife on school premises without good reason or lawful authority, and also accused of unlawfully and maliciously administering a noxious thing to a third child with a harmful, unidentified liquid. Reports say that the defendant shouted “Allahu Akbar”—or something similar—during the attack.
Due to his young age, the boy’s name cannot be made public. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Youth Court today, February 12th. The investigation is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing, who are working closely with the local community to find out exactly what happened. Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Flanagan described the charges as “extremely serious” and said the police are providing full support to the victims and their families.
Local leaders, including the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and Brent Council leader Muhammed Butt, expressed their shock over the incident. The mayor also urged anyone with information to contact the police, adding: “There is no honour in staying silent.”
They emphasized that schools must be safe places for children. Meanwhile, legal officials have warned the public not to share any names or details about the case on social media, as this could interfere with the boy’s right to a fair trial.
