Britain is threatened by water shortages in the next decade due to supply chain structural problems, according to a government minister. Emma Hardy of the Department for Environment’s Food and Rural Affairs Unit said:

Britain is running out of drinking water … areas of the country will run out of drinking water by the middle of the next decade.

While the Labour government blames its predecessor for under-investing in resources, from pipelines to reservoirs, it seems keen to avoid discussing the role of population explosion, fuelled by mass immigration, in the crisis ahead.

Separately, Environment Secretary Steve Reed moved to bypass planning system hurdles in order to force through two new giant reservoirs. By declaring both projects “nationally significant,” Reed evokes the language of a national emergency so as to steamroll local authorities.

New reservoirs in Cambridgeshire (for 2036) and Lincolnshire (to be completed by 2040) may turn out to be a drop in the ocean. Nigel Farage continues to put pressure on Labour, both at the polls and by acknowledging many voters’ negative experiences of migration-led population growth.
