Kyiv said Moscow deployed 54 Iranian-made Shahed drones, along with decoy drones, targeting at least eight different locations of Ukraine overnight. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 33 drones were intercepted, while the remaining 21 successfully struck their targets.
A civilian was killed in the city of Pokrovsk during the nighttime bombardment.
In a separate development, Ukraine announced it had destroyed three Russian Mil Mi-8 helicopters stationed on the occupied Crimean Peninsula.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Sunday on X that in just the past week, Russia had launched more than 1,500 drones, 1,280 guided bombs, and 50 different types of missiles against Ukrainian cities. He also noted that many of the Russian munitions included components manufactured in Western countries, including the United States, China, Japan, and dozens of others.
Russia must feel the consequences of what it is doing. Sufficient counteraction is needed to force them to seek peace. That can be achieved with adequate strength of our army, our long-range strike capabilities, and strong sanctions and pressure against Russia.

Zelensky expressed hope that the 19th EU sanctions package, announced on Friday, would considerably weaken Russia’s military capabilities, and urged the United States to join Europe in stepping up pressure on Moscow. “We must shut down all possible supply routes and eliminate any means of circumventing the sanctions,” Zelensky said. “It’s time to hold to account the countries and companies enabling the Russian war machine.”
