Early in the morning on Saturday, October 25th, four people were killed and around 20 wounded in Russian strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region. Residential buildings, private homes, a shop and a car were also damaged.
President Vladimir Putin’s forces also targeted Kyiv during the night, injuring at least eight people and damaging buildings and houses in several districts. Three of those injured were taken to hospital.
Additional damage was reported in the Dniprovskyi district, though the number of casualties there has not yet been confirmed.
Russia recently announced the occupation of four more Ukrainian villages as part of its military campaign.
The attack came as Kyiv’s Western allies stepped up pressure on Russia. This week the United States and the European Union—with some member states once again going through the motions of another ‘Coalition of the Willing’ meeting—announced new sanctions against Russia’s energy sector, aimed at further crippling the country’s war economy.
UPDATE (Sunday, October 26): Ukrainian authorities have since released details indicating that four people died and around 20 were injured. Our headline and coverage from Saturday, October 25 has been modified to include this new information.)
