China has said it is ready to “fight to the end”  its trade dispute with the United States after President Donald Trump announced plans to add a 100% tariff on Chinese goods.

Trump’s announcement on social media comes after China introduced new export controls on rare earths and the U.S. said it will limit exports of important software from November 1st.

A Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson said China is willing to negotiate but criticized the U.S. for combining talks with threats of new restrictions.

Despite the tensions, Chinese exports were strong in September. U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods are at least 30%, while China’s retaliatory tariffs are 10%. The trade conflict has raised concerns ahead of a possible meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping in South Korea.
