A record-long U.S. government shutdown is disrupting air travel, with major airports facing reduced capacity.

Washington announced a 10% reduction in flight capacity at 40 busy airports nationwide starting Friday, November 6th, as the longest-ever government shutdown continues.

Over 1.4 million federal workers remain furloughed or unpaid, including air traffic controllers and TSA officers, raising concerns about delays and safety.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and FAA chief Bryan Bedford said the cuts will affect high-traffic hubs such as Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City. Lawmakers remain deadlocked over healthcare funding, prolonging the shutdown and its impact on air travel.
