The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has changed its rules to follow President Trump’s ‘Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports’ executive order that bans transgender women from competing in women’s sports. The update was added to the committee’s ‘Athlete Safety’ policy on Monday.

The USOPC said it will work with groups like the IOC and national sports bodies to ensure fair competition for women, adding that they’ve had “respectful and constructive” talks with federal officials.

It’s not clearly stated in the committee’s statement how the policy will be enforced, and it is unclear whether any American Olympians will be banned from the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics taking place in Los Angeles. The IOC is also still working on how to handle transgender athletes.
