Pope Leo XIV was invited to join U.S. president Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace,” Vatican officials confirmed on Wednesday, January 21st. The announcement was made by Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s secretary of state, during a press event in Rome. He told journalists
We’ve also received this invitation and the pope received it and we are looking at what to do. We are researching and I believe it’s a question that demands a little time to be considered in order to give a response.
The Board of Peace is not a formal international organisation but a high-level political advisory forum launched by the United States in 2026. According to Donald Trump, its purpose is to provide guidance on post-war governance, security guarantees, and frameworks for international cooperation. Trump himself chairs the body, which brings together both American and international political figures.
