A 50-year-old man allegedly attacked his 15-year-old daughter on Monday, November 24th, in the Donaustadt district of Vienna. He reportedly punched her and stabbed her with a kitchen knife.
A witness heard the girl’s screams and intervened, stopping the attack. The teenager was airlifted to Vienna General Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Her condition is now stable.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and the knife was recovered. Authorities are investigating the motive, which may relate to the father claiming his daughter violated the family’s honor.
Vienna has seen significant changes since the increase in illegal migration after 2015. Many argue that the rise in migration has been linked to higher crime rates across the country, including violent incidents and ‘honor crimes.’
