The Board of Peace is not a formal international organisation but a high-level political advisory forum launched by the United States in 2026. According to Donald Trump, its role is to provide guidance on post-war governance, security guarantees, and the framework for international engagement. Trump himself chairs the body, which brings together American and international political figures.
According to publicly available information, the board includes members of Trump’s inner circle, such as Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and former presidential adviser Jared Kushner. Representatives from several Middle Eastern countries, including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, are also expected to take part, alongside experienced international politicians and diplomats such as the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and former British prime minister Tony Blair. The final list of participants has not yet been confirmed.
Orbán’s invitation suggests that Trump views Hungary as one of the countries with the political experience and international reach to contribute to the preparation of the peace process. The Hungarian government has stressed repeatedly its support for diplomatic solutions over armed conflict and its willingness to take part in international peace initiatives.
