The British government spent £674.17 on a single Pride flag, newly released figures reveal.
According to a report from the Guido Fawkes website, the Government Property Agency confirmed that it had purchased just two flags since the general election. One was a Ukrainian flag bought to “show solidarity,” costing £104.60. The other, a Pride flag “purchased for flying during events,” came with a significantly higher price tag of £674.17.
Guido points out that similar Pride flags can be found online for as little as £25, prompting questions about how the government ended up spending nearly 27 times that amount.
The agency has not provided an explanation for the cost discrepancy.
Earlier this month, Reform UK announced that the councils it controls will not fly woke flags—instead, they will only fly the UK flag, the England flag, or local county flags.
