On Sunday, October 12th, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said he has spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday for the second time in two days, calling the conversation “very productive.”
“We discussed all aspects of the situation: the defense of our country, strengthening our capabilities—in the field of air defence, resilience, and long-range capabilities,” he wrote in a post on X.

Zelensky also held a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday. During the call, Zelensky reiterated the urgent need for more air defence systems, warning that Russia is exploiting the world’s diverted attention.
“Russia is taking advantage of the moment—the fact that the Middle East and domestic issues are receiving maximum attention in all countries,” he said.

France remains a key military backer of Ukraine, although the current political crisis may impact Paris’s commitments to Kyiv.
Diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s three-and-a-half-year invasion have largely stalled in recent months.
