Ukraine and Russia have reached a new agreement to exchange 1,200 prisoners, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, following the third round of negotiations held in Istanbul.
Zelensky announced the development on his official Telegram account after a high-level meeting with Russian officials.
“There is an agreement on the exchange of 1,200 people, and work on the lists is ongoing, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council reported on communication with the Russian representative,” Zelensky stated.
The agreement follows months of negotiations in Istanbul.
During the latest discussions, Ukraine proposed a four-party meeting to be held by the end of August involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
