Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday, November 21st, he would not “betray” Ukraine by accepting a U.S. initiative to end the war with Russia, which Kyiv fears concedes too much to Moscow.
In an address to the nation he vowed to present “arguments” and “alternatives” to Washington’s plan.
Zelensky also warned that Ukraine risks losing crucial U.S. support if it refuses to back the proposal:
Ukraine may face a very difficult choice: either the loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner.
He insisted that Kyiv would stand firm, just as it did at the start of Russia’s invasion in 2022.
