Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, April 29th called for a “fair” resolution to the ongoing war with Russia, rejecting any outcome that would reward Russian President Vladimir Putin with territorial gains.
“We all want this war to end in a fair way—with no rewards for Putin, especially no land,” Zelensky said via videoconference at a summit hosted by Poland.
The statement comes amid growing international discussion about potential paths to peace. Reports suggest the United States has considered proposals to freeze the front line and accept Russia’s continued control of Crimea. Zelensky, however, has shown no willingness to accept such terms. Since its 2022 invasion, Moscow has seized around 20% of Ukraine. Crimea, however, has been under Russian control since 2014.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday said he believed Zelensky might eventually concede the Black Sea peninsula as part of a broader settlement. Russia has repeatedly insisted that any peace deal must include its retention of territories it currently occupies in Ukraine’s south and east.
