European Right Celebrates Milei’s “Extraordinary” Victory

Unsurprisingly, there have been far fewer words of praise coming from the Brussels establishment.

Javier Milei’s midterm elections win must not end in Argentina and should instead be used as a blueprint for future successes within Europe’s conservative political scene.

That is the hopeful message being shared among figures on the right on Monday, while establishment figures in Brussels fill the air with silence.

Sweden Democrats MEP Charlie Weimers said Milei’s acquisition of 40.7% of the votes cast for members of Congress, despite some recent setbacks, was “big,” adding:

Maybe European politicians can eventually be inspired to pursue policies that lead to long-term prosperity?

In Budapest, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also offered his congratulations on this “remarkable victory,” stressing that “Hungary and Argentina share a deep respect for freedom and sovereignty.”

We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with a true patriot. Viva la Libertad!

Hungarian MEP András László added that the election was a big win for freedom.

Italy’s Matteo Salvini said the victory was achieved (“against everything and everyone”) despite pushback from mainstream types—which, of course, is not unique to Argentina.

Full speed ahead with the reforms, long live Freedom!

Alice Weidel, co-leader of Germany’s anti-immigration AfD, likewise praised Milei and his La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party of refuting “all those lies that tried to reinterpret Milei’s success and Argentina’s transformation as a failure.”

Argentinians gathered outside LLA’s headquarters in the early hours after the election results were announced.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU top diplomat Kaja Kallas have both yet to publicly comment on Milei’s landslide victory. They likely never will.
