Parents in Berlin stuck for ideas about how to entertain their children this Saturday might consider attending the so-called Solidarity Neighborhood Event—so long as they don’t mind their craft and dance classes being accompanied by antisemitic rants.

The official poster of the upcoming pro-Palestine demonstration organised by the Die Linkeparty in the Berlin district of Neukölln reveals that the ‘United Palestinian National Committee’ shall be participating in the day’s events, to which people are encouraged to invite their friends and work colleagues.

The Berlin Federal Office describes the ‘National Committee’ as an “umbrella” group for supporters of Hamas, adding that it has worked with “other anti-Israel extremists” in the near past. Its 2024 report for the ‘Protection of the Constitution’ also lists this group under the banner: “Islamism/Islamist Terrorism.”

Those present should expect the demo to feature “anti-Israel and terror-glorifying speeches,” according to Welt, thanks to the scheduling of a speech by a representative of this Hamas sympathising group.

Berlin’s B.Z. newspaper tried to establish whether the federal and state-funded venue where the event is being held knew about the ‘National Committee’s’ participation, but its enquiries “remained unanswered.”

CDU politician Ottilie Klein criticised Die Linke for “not only an antisemitism problem but also little hesitation in dealing with supporters of the terrorist organization Hamas.”

Neukölln Deputy Mayor Gerrit Kringel added that “antisemitism and hostility towards Israel, regardless of their origin, must have no place in Berlin-Neukölln.”
