Documents shared on social media make the case for the Swedish activist being closely involved with the terrorist organization.

A collection of  documents found in the Gaza Strip, unveiled by the Israeli Foreign Ministry on X, has sent shockwaves through diplomatic circles. The documents indicate that Hamas  is directly funding and managing the upcoming the so-called Sumud flotilla, a mission that includes nearly 50 ships and climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The evidence paints a detailed picture of a sophisticated international network run by Hamas, designed to orchestrate provocations against Israel under the guise of civilian activism.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated on X that the documents uncovered “prove Hamas’s direct involvement in the funding and execution of the ‘Sumud’ flotilla to Gaza.”

According to the ministry, the documents outline a clear command structure. While Hamas leadership inside Gaza handles internal affairs, the external arm of the group operates through the Palestinian Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA). Founded in 2018 and designated by Israel as a terrorist organization in 2021, the PCPA is described in the documents as acting as “Hamas’s representative body abroad,” functioning as its de facto embassies.

The PCPA is responsible for “mobilizing actions against Israel, including violent demonstrations, marches against Israel, and demonstration and provocation flotillas,” the Ministry stresses.

The evidence includes a 2021 letter from Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh to PCPA Secretary General Manir Shafik, in which Haniyeh publicly endorses the organization and calls for unity. Another document is a list of PCPA operatives, many identified as high-ranking Hamas figures.

Key individuals named are Zaher Birawi, identified as the head of the PCPA’s Hamas sector in the UK and a long-time leader of flotilla efforts, and Saif Abu Kashk, a senior operative in Spain. The investigation goes a step further, alleging that Abu Kashk is also the CEO of a Spanish front company, Cyber Neptune, which secretly owns dozens of the ships in the flotilla.

“This document was found in a Hamas outpost in the Gaza Strip and proves again the direct connection between the flotilla leaders and Hamas,” the Israeli ministry emphasized.

The flotilla, consisting of an estimated 47 to 50 vessels, is already nearing the eastern Mediterranean. The mission has drawn significant international attention, with Italy and Spain dispatching naval units for what they term humanitarian assistance, and Turkish drones monitoring the convoy.

Adding a high-profile name to the controversy, the documents note the participation of Greta Thunberg. The climate activist is no stranger to such missions; in June 2025, she sailed on the Madleen, a vessel intercepted by Israel and later mockingly referred to as a “selfie yacht” before her deportation.

While flotilla organizers maintain their mission is solely to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, Israel points to a refused offer as proof of a darker motive. Together with Italy, Israel proposed transferring all supplies through the Israeli port of Ashkelon or via Cyprus.

“They said no. Do you know why? Because they’re not interested in aid—they’re interested in provocation,” said Israeli spokesman Oren Marmorstein. “We don’t want anyone to be in danger. That’s why we said: Please accept the Italian government’s proposal … Let’s bring the aid to Gaza peacefully.”
