Pope Francis Visited Hungary

Pope Francis celebrated the concluding Mass for the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest, Hungary, as a ‘Statio Orbis,’ a liturgy manifesting the unity of the whole Church around the table of the Lord.

Before the Mass, Pope Francis met Hungary’s bishops: ‘Be close to God, each other, priests and your flock’, he said. The pope urged them to be witnesses of fraternity.

The head of the Catholic Church also met President János Áder and Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary on Sunday, discussing with them the role of the Church in the country, the protection of the environment, and the promotion of the family.

After Budapest, Pope Francis travelled to Slovakia for an official papal visit.
