You’d have thought that members of a group set up in the wake of the October 7th terror attacks to counter hostility towards Jews would fit right at an anti-racism demonstration. Yet ‘Our Fight’—which claims to stand “For Israel, Against Antisemitism”—says it was “attacked” at such an event on Saturday.

Founder Mark Birbeck explained that the group “peacefully” joined a demo organised by the ‘Stand Up to Racism’ campaign—which also claims to oppose antisemitism—holding various pro-Israeli banners, pictured below. One of these appears to have been stolen, and, Birbeck said, “Stand Up to Racism stewards … attacked us.”

He added that on other occasions when his group has attended events such as this,” its members have been thrown to the ground, spat on, and had their property stolen.

In the past 15 months we have joined many events organised by the so-called progressive left, to show them up for what they are. We simply stand with placards, containing messages that you would think no-one could argue with, such as being against anti-Semitism, or that Hamas are terrorists.

europeanconservative.com has approached ‘Stand Up to Racism’ for comment regarding Saturday’s demonstration.

London’s Metropolitan Police has also come under fire for its treatment of the pro-Israel activists. Most recently, three were arrested on Saturday February 1st—Birbeck claims wrongly. We have also asked the force to respond to ‘Our Fight’s’ claims.

They come just a week after a survey of more than 4,000 Jews living in Britain revealed that just 5% have confidence in Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, and that six in 10 believe he should get sacked or resign. The poll was conducted by the Campaign Against Antisemitism, which ‘Our Fight’ claims will support it to challenge Saturday’s “wrongful arrests.”
