Following a massive surge unprecedented in scale, which saw nearly 4,000 sub-Saharan Africans storm the Spanish border in the city of Melilla earlier this week, the leader of the non-conformist, counter-globalist VOX party has called for the deployment of the army to the border area to stop what he referred to as an invasion.
The surge, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday—and came nearly ten months after 10,000 migrants illegally entered Spanish territory after breaching border defenses in Melilla’s sister city Ceuta—saw more than 800 foreigners illegally force their way into the Spanish territory, injuring nearly two dozen Civil Guard and police officers in the process, Diario de Burgos reports.

Government sources say that the migrants—almost all of whom appear to be fighting-age men, according to video footage—initially hurled stones at Moroccan security forces to reach the fence, then used a variety of tools to scale the barrier. Rubén Pulido, an immigration expert and contributing journalist for La Gaceta de la Iberosfera, said that the large contingent of migrants had been testing border defenses on Tuesday night, prior to storming the barrier.
In the day which proceeded the initial assault, an additional 1,200 foreigners endeavored to breach the border defenses, 350 of whom were successful and managed to enter the city of Melilla.
👏🏻 En momentos en los que la labor de las FCSE en nuestras fronteras es puesta en tela de juicio, es importante tener constancia de la gran eficacia con la que desarrollan operativos como los de Melilla.

On the heels of the onslaughts, VOX President Santiago Abascal took to social media to slam the Morrocan government for allowing it to happen, saying it had “thrown thousands of men” against the Spanish border.
“Our Southern Border is under permanent attack. Neither the government nor the [Partido Popular] wants to address the obvious,” Abascal wrote on social media.

VOX MP Rocio De Meer, who in a recent speech warned that mass migration would destroy Europe’s unique civilization, took to social media to comment on the massive incursion, writing: “The situation is unsustainable and the bill will be paid by the humblest Spaniards, not by the powerful who have sold us out from their mansions with private security. It is urgent to adopt courageous measures to protect what is ours.”
“They are not refugees. And if they fled from any war they would be deserters,” the young VOX MP added.

Earlier this week, Abascal, while speaking at an extraordinary plenary session in Congress following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, also drew a clear distinction between the genuine refugees—the women, children, and elderly—who’ve fled the conflict in Ukraine and “men of military age who have thrown themselves against different borders of Europe in an attempt to destabilize and colonize it.”
Anyone can understand the difference between these refugee flows now and the invasions of young men of military age and Muslim origin… anyone can understand the position of VOX and the Polish government. We must defend our borders, our sovereignty, and our nations.

Furthermore, Abascal urged the government to bolster its military capacity, asserting the health, welfare, and security of Spanish society “cannot depend on totalitarian, communist, Islamist or satrap regimes like Putin.”
The news comes as figures released by the Spanish Interior Ministry revealed that, in the first two months of 2022, illegal arrivals—which exceeded 7,300—have increased 73% compared to the previous year. Well over two-thirds of the illegal arrivals have landed on the Canary Islands, which recorded a 134% increase in arrivals compared to the previous year.
