Patriots for Europe is gaining momentum in the European Parliament, bolstering its claim to be the bloc’s most influential conservative force after picking up a new member this week.
Polish MEP Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik announced her move from the Europe of Sovereign Nations group on Wednesday, saying the “future belongs to Patriots.”

In another post, she expressed her excitement at working alongside the group’s 84 other members, from 14 countries, to defend “the national sovereignty of member states, reject the migration pact and mass migration, oppose the Green Deal, ETS, and the entire EU climate policy, and want to end the authoritarian dictate of Ursula von der Leyen’s European Commission.”
These are extremely important issues that unite us, and now I will be able to fight for them together with such strong allies!
The news prompted Polish journalist Czarek Paprzycki to suggest “it’s not out of the question that in the next round, the ‘Patriots’ will play a key role in the EU puzzle, potentially replacing the center-left S&D or liberal Renew at the Brussels helm.”
Zajączkowska-Hernik has been warmly welcomed by the group’s existing members, including France’s Marine Le Pen, and Hungarian MEP Kinga Gáll, who said Patriots is “growing stronger.”
The European Conservatives and Reformists also last week picked up a new member, the Dutch Farmer-Citizen Movement (BBB), further highlighting the conservative movement’s expanding reach.
