Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s surprise visit to Moscow to interview President Vladimir Putin has set globalist politicians’ and self-described journalists’ hair on fire, with some accusing Carlson of being a “traitor” and others calling for him to be banned from entering the EU and reentering the U.S.
Not long after Carlson was spotted attending the Spartacus ballet at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow over the weekend, rumors of an interview with the Russian leader began swirling across global information networks. According to the New York Times, sources at the Kremlin say the interview has taken place, but the time of its airing is unknown.
The accusations, defamations, and calls for punitive action to be taken by supranational bodies like the EU were quick to follow. Although unsurprising, these reactions do raise concerns over the actual state of the ‘free press’ in the West, given that at least until recently, journalists have been expected to ask questions and speak with interesting and consequential figures.
Carlson confirmed those rumors yesterday evening when posted a video to the social media platform X titled: “Why I’m Interviewing Vladimir Putin.” The post has since racked up over 63 million views at the time of this writing.
The war in Ukraine is a human disaster. It’s left hundreds of thousands of people dead. An entire generation of young Ukrainians. And has depopulated the largest country in Europe. But the long-term effects are even more profound. This war has utterly reshaped the global military and trade alliances, and the sanctions that followed have as well. And in total, they have upended the world economy. The post-World War II economic order, the system that guaranteed prosperity in the West for more than 80 years is coming apart very fast, and along with it the dominance of the US dollar. These are not small changes. They are history-altering developments. They will define the lives of our grandchildren. Most of the world understands this perfectly well. They can see it. Ask anyone in Asia or the Middle East what the future looks like. And yet the populations of the English-speaking countries seem mostly unaware. They think nothing has really changed, and they think that because no one has told them the truth. Their media outlets are corrupt. They lie to their readers and viewers, and they do that mostly by omission.
Most Americas have no idea why Putin invaded Ukraine or what his goals are now… You’ve never heard his voice. That’s wrong. Americans have a right to know all we can about a war they’re implicated in, and we have the right to tell them about it.
Western governments, by contrast, will certainly do their best to censor this video. They are afraid of information they can’t control.
We don’t want to encourage you to agree with what Putin says in this interview. But we urge you to check it out. You should know as much as possible. And then you can decide for yourself, like a free citizen and not a slave.
The European Union’s chief globocrat Belgian MEP Guy Verhofstadt was among the first high-profile politicians to have a meltdown over the American journalist’s visit to Moscow, and revealed himself as no friend of press freedom or truly liberal principles.
In a post to X, Verhofstadt wrote: “Tucker Carlson is certainly on the way to being labeled a propagandist for the Russian regime. If he enables disinformation for Putin, the EU should consider a travel ban!”
Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy reacted to Verhofstadt by saying that “there’s no way the EU would ever dare to do that to a prominent U.S. figure without implicit blessing from their counterparts in the U.S. government.”
Virulent neocon warhawk Bill Kristol, who served as former chief of staff to the vice president of the U.S. during the Reagan administration, responded similarly to the photos of Carlson.
“Perhaps we need a total and complete shutdown of Tucker Carlson re-entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” he wrote on X.
Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican representative from Illinois, claimed that Carlson was a “traitor” for visiting Moscow.
Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida supported Carlson’s efforts, retweeting his video with the comment “Real journalism.”
