The block should be viewed as a badge of honour, Renaud Camus, another conservative writer prevented from entering the UK last year said.

Eva Vlaardingerbroek says her ban from entering Britain, issued just days after she criticised the state of free speech under Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer, means “my point that the UK is no longer a free country has been indisputably proven.”

The Dutch conservative political commentator revealed on Wednesday that her electronic travel authorisation had been withdrawn, preventing her from travelling to the UK without a visa. The Home Office deemed that her presence was not “conductive to the public good,” months before she was due to attend a London rally organised by English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson.

A strong reaction has followed online. Rupert Lowe said on Thursday he has “formally questioned the Home Office” on the ban, “requesting that they reverse their appalling decision.” The Netherlands’ Forum for Democracy party has likewise submitted a parliamentary question about the entry ban, asking whether the British government or ambassador have been tasked for an explanation for Vlaardingerbroek’s refusal.

In the meantime, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán responded to the commentator saying that “you’re always welcome in Hungary!”

Vlaardingerbroek is trying to seek an explanation for the ban. But writer Rod Dreher noted on Thursday that “no matter how peaceful you are, if you oppose regime policy, you could be persona non grata,” joking:

Maybe she should try getting in on a dinghy from Calais.

Renaud Camus, the philosopher behind the ‘Great Replacement’ theory who was himself banned from the UK in April last year, even suggested that to be prevented from entering Britain should be considered a badge of honour:

This was long overdue. You deserved it entirely, Madame, by your splendid work and your courage. Please accept my most sincere congratulations for the great honor bestowed upon you.

The pair are planning on meeting one day, perhaps even in England—because, as Camus put it, “the Genocidal Bloc is not eternal.”
