Stopping short of a complete visa ban on Russian citizens, the EU decided to suspend the existing agreement that eases visa issuance for Russians. Some Eastern European nations are now considering putting regional bans in place.

This is not the first time Eastern European countries have called the large amounts of vaccines purchased by the EU “a waste of public resources.”

The European Union is not NATO, but Ukraine joining the Union, while undoubtedly symbolically effective, could further aggravate tensions between Russia and the rest of the European continent.
