Besides a chance to propose more amendments to protect member states’ sovereignty, the motion will trigger a debate that puts the liberals on the stand, MEP Charlie Weimers told The European Conservative.
“[The established parties] fail to recognize that this is a reflection of their bad policies and the fact that the people will no longer tolerate them selling the German people down the river.”
The liberal-green initiative would give more legislative power to the European Parliament, scrap unanimity in the Council, and establish EU citizenship complete with voting rights, universally set at age 16.
