“Let [Western Europe] do these social experiments on their own citizens, with their own money, and leave Poland out of it,” MEP Kosma Złotowski told the EuroCon, as Warsaw pledges to resist migrant quotas.

“We are very hopeful to move things in the right direction,” members of the new cross-party policy group said, promising to do everything they can “to stop this left-wing compromise” on the new migration pact.

The EU’s asylum pact imposes a quota system on member states to accept refugees. The Sweden Democrats have declared it a risk to national sovereignty.

“There are more battles to come,” conservative MEP Charlie Weimers noted, observing that the decision would prevent effective border control and enshrine migrant quotas in the new Asylum and Immigration Pact.
