“As for NATO, this is another issue … Our position here is well known: we consider this unacceptable for ourselves,” the Russian president said.
The former president floated the idea of using nuclear weapons to deter prospective candidates to the alliance, a message suspected to be a comment on Ukraine’s future.

Olaf Scholz said “a country at war absolutely cannot become a member of NATO. Everyone knows that.”
