Germany and some EU organisations have reacted negatively against a landmark EU pact with Tunisia they feel was signed without their consultation and shifts migration policy to the right.
Authorities say that increasingly, crews of Tunisian fishing boats are leaving behind the profession and are dedicating themselves to “the more lucrative activity of pirates,” plundering small iron boats that ferry migrants from Tunisia to Sicily.
