The position of Kyiv’s former energy minister is “untenable” while a money laundering probe is underway.

The Ukrainian leader will join a delegation including Ukraine’s prime minister and other officials to discuss air defence and pressure on Russia.

The measure is intended to lay the foundation for Ukraine’s economic recovery, sustainable growth, and eventual EU membership.

The nomination signals a major political reshuffle as Ukraine tries to stabilise its wartime economy and maintain Western support.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the minerals deal is “a signal to the Russian leadership.”
