A recent survey indicates that a majority (57%) of Spanish adults would support switching funds from the public welfare budget to increased military spending. It also suggests that 64% would send troops to Ukraine for ‘peacekeeping’ and only a quarter view the U.S. as a Spanish ally: more respondents viewed Washington as an enemy than they did Beijing.
The survey, conducted between March 16th and 23rd, addressed more than 2,000 people and adjusted for gender, age, autonomous community, income and residency.
But observers would do well to treat the claims with a pinch of salt, as the (push-)polling was done by the More in Common organisation, funded, among others, by George Soros’ Open Society Foundations—fuelling the perception of More in Common as “shadowy.”
