After nearly two years in Hamas captivity, Gilboa-Dalal appears in a video alongside another captive.

Hamas released a video on Friday, September 5th, showing Gaza hostage Guy Gilboa-Dalal and a second captive whose family requested anonymity.

In the footage, Gilboa-Dalal expressed disbelief that he had survived 22 months of conflict and confirmed he was being held in Gaza City. He stated that he and the remaining hostages would stay in Gaza City during the upcoming IDF operation and that Hamas would move them in anticipation of IDF activity.

The Hostages’ Families Headquarters warned that the IDF lacks precise information on the hostages’ locations, raising fears that the operation could lead to their “murder and disappearance forever in the ruins of the Strip.”

Families highlighted a plan proposed by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff as a potential basis for a comprehensive deal to secure the hostages’ release.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid called the video a painful reminder that Israel must resume negotiations to bring the hostages home, writing on X (formerly Twitter):

We must do everything to bring them home. Sending strength to the families, you are not alone, we are with you.

The footage appears to have been recorded on August 28th, days before former Hamas military spokesperson Abu Obeida’s death
