Brussels Antifa–a group of intolerant radical zealots–are determined to cancel a meeting on Women and Conservatism organised by MCC Brussels. They have attempted to intimidate venues that dare to host people whose views challenge their ideology. Their motivations are clear: to use the threat of public disorder and criminal damage to silence anyone who disagrees with the Brussels consensus.
Antifa’s mobilisation is aimed at silencing women. Our event tonight is a conversation between four women on what kind of politics they need. For Antifa, conservative women are not allowed a voice. Their cowardly tactics are not just a threat to the fabric of free speech and European democracy, and they reserve their deepest hatred for women who dare to question the status quo.
Unfortunately, this rent-a-mob pressure has already led several venues to give in to their threats and back off from allowing their opponents to have a voice in Brussels. There is a long history of meetings being cancelled because of the threat of violence from Antifa in Brussels. In many cases, the local political establishment have proved more than willing to appease those who regard the freedom of speech and democracy with utter contempt.
MCC Brussels is determined to defend its right to have its voice heard. Freedom of speech is the foundation of democracy and the ideal of tolerance is essential for maintaining a civilised society. Antifa’s tactics are not just aimed at tonight’s speakers or at MCC Brussels, but anyone who dares challenge the elite consensus which inflicted enormous damage on this great continent.
Anyone who values democracy and free expression cannot allow them to succeed.
MCC Brussels certainly will not allow them to.
