Around 15,000 protestors marched against Israel in Berlin on Saturday, June 21st, leading to clashes with local police and 50 arrests.
Calling itself ‘United4Gaza,’ the demonstration demanded an immediate end to German arms deliveries to Israel and more “humanitarian aid” to the Gaza Strip. Accusing the German government of “financing a genocide,” they targeted Israel with “genocide” allegations.
As if saying the quiet part out loud, at least one demonstrator hung a Jew in effigy—based on a Sigmund Freud (Jewish; Austrian not Israeli) doll with an added Star of David—while others carried banned caliphate flags, watched by police.
It prompted one observer to post on X (formerly Twitter):
Thousands of leftists of all stripes are standing hand in hand with radical Islamists and Iranian clerical fascists in Berlin today against the Jewish state.
The violence at Potsdamer Platz left five police officers injured. Echoing a pattern already seen on UK ‘pro-Palestine’ demos, police had more ‘success’ in breaking up a small pro-Israel counter-demonstration “because the safety of the participants could no longer be guaranteed.”
