Marine Le Pen’s lawyer, Rodolphe Bosselut, confirmed that they are appealing against the verdict against the politician.

The BBC learned from Belgian journalist Christine Ockrent that, due to the overload of French courts, it could take as long as one and a half to two years until the appeal hearing.

“That would already be very close to the presidential election due in May 2027,” the journalist believes, but adds that it is possible that Le Pen’s case could be brought forward in view of the situation. “This depends only on the justice system.”
