Following the arrest of a suspected Syrian terrorist in Berlin, intelligence services and experts are warning that as many as 300–500 million Muslims worldwide may hold radical views. This figure includes not only those inclined to violence but also those who reject the Western way of life or support the global spread of Islam.

According to an interview in Die Welt, Arab intelligence services believe that one in four Muslims holds radical views. This means that of the approximately 10 million Muslim migrants who have arrived in Europe, as many as 2.5 million could be radicals.

European authorities are now expecting further Islamist attacks, particularly against Jewish institutions, and are therefore strengthening security measures.
