Marta Kos, the European Union’s enlargement commissioner, shared a video on her X account in which, answering journalists’ questions, she described it as “wonderful” that for the first time in the EU’s history they are negotiating accession with a country at war – a process which, she added, is moreover progressing very well, with Ukraine making enormous efforts towards membership.
She emphasised that EU membership is currently the only possibility that can save Ukraine.
“I will do everything so that the countries waiting for enlargement can join the EU. This is particularly true in the case of Ukraine. Because for them EU membership is the only political anchor for a secure future”
– she wrote in the post.
I am doing everything for EU membership for all enlargement countries, especially for Ukraine.
