The FBI has fired more than a dozen agents photographed kneeling on the street during the riots in Washington, D.C. following the death of George Floyd in 2020, according to reports.

Three sources who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity put the number of terminations at between 15 and 22. The FBI Agents Association, which insists the dismissals were unlawful, confirmed in a statement late on Friday that more than a dozen agents had been fired.

Kneeling was widely used by protesters and supporters after Floyd’s death to signal sympathy with the Black Lives Matter movement and a call for racial justice.
