Gina Carano claims to have spoken with two key corporate figures after settling her lawsuit with Disney and Lucasfilm, raising fresh speculation about her possible return to the Star Wars universe.
Carano revealed that the conversation with directors Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau took place after an earlier legal dispute was resolved, describing a friendly Zoom call with the two key figures behind Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian. She said the exchange was “really lovely”, adding that it felt as though
they didn’t even miss a beat.
The actress was fired from Lucasfilm in 2021 following controversial social media posts, including mocking the use of pronouns in social media profiles, alleging fraud in the 2020 U.S. election, and drawing an analogy involving antisemitism and Republicans. She later filed a lawsuit in 2024 alleging wrongful termination and discrimination, which was settled out of court in 2025.
Following the settlement, Disney indicated it would be open to future collaboration, fuelling speculation that Carano could return to her role as Cara Dune in The Mandalorian franchise. Carano did not confirm any concrete plans, and it remains unclear whether the talks will lead to an on-screen comeback.
She’s not alone in being a “non-woke” actor in left-liberal Hollywood. Dean Cain, erstwhile star of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman earlier set out his plans to join the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE), while Sydney Sweeney, the new darling of the American film industry, is a registered Republican voter.
