“Slovakia has taken a significant step towards restoring European values within the European Union. Common sense must prevail everywhere,” Papuashvili emphasised.

As we reported, on Friday, September 26th, Slovakia’s lawmakers approved a constitutional amendment that states that there are only two legally recognised genders: male and female. The required three-fifths majority was narrowly secured in the 150-member parliament, with 90 MPs supporting the proposal, including some opposition conservatives.

Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian parliament, commended Slovakia for the move on social media.

“Slovakia has taken a significant step towards restoring European values within the European Union. Common sense must prevail everywhere,” Papuashvili emphasised.

“When basic common sense needs to be safeguarded by law, these issues often arise from the minority imposing its dictate on the majority. Slovakia’s move marks an important step in restoring European principles within the Union. Common sense must prevail everywhere,” he wrote.
