German arms manufacturers are raking in huge profits from weapons sale caused by the Russia-Ukraine war

According to a fresh SIPRI report, the world’s 100 largest arms manufacturers achieved record revenues last year: arms sales rose by nearly 6 percent to 679 billion dollars, mainly due to demand generated by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

European companies posted 13 percent growth, while German manufacturers performed outstandingly:

  • Rheinmetall recorded a 46 percent increase,
  • Diehl 53 percent, and
  • Thyssen-Krupp and Hensoldt achieved 12–18 percent growth.
