The German town of Fürstenwalde is witnessing a disturbing criminal investigation following an alleged sexual assault on two underage girls in its central park.
On April 15th, the Frankfurt (Oder) public prosecutor’s office announced that investigators have identified eight juvenile suspects believed to be involved in the incident, which reportedly took place on April 8th.
Public prosecutor Ingo Kechichian clarified that while the investigation into sexual abuse is “ongoing and intensive,” there is currently no “urgent suspicion of a crime” that would justify immediate arrests, as the exact roles and sequence of events are still being determined.
The suspects, described as a group of German, Syrian, and Russian nationals, were reportedly known to the victims.
Authorities have seized multiple mobile phones and are currently performing forensic evaluations of digital data alongside witness testimonies to reconstruct the events.
This case has reignited safety concerns in the Brandenburg town, drawing stark parallels to a high-profile sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in the same park reported by the Märkische Allgemeine just last year.
